Why “Frum” Fit To Fight?

Posted: July 3, 2012 in Frum

From Wikipedia: The Yiddish adjective frum (Yiddish: פֿרום; [frum | frim]), from the German fromm, meaning “devout” or “pious,” is a word meaning committed to the observance of the 613 commandments, or Jewish commandments, specifically of Orthodox Judaism. This appellative is generally, but not only, applied in reference to Orthodox Jews, and used by that group as a self-reference.

The key word: committed. In our understanding, though, we disagree with Wikipedia.

We are not an adjective; we are verbs.

Commitment is never static; it is constant.

It is retzev: a continuous attack on the status quo.
